First two weeks are over and I’m… well…
exhausted! It was a lot of fun getting to know the campus and my classmates and
generally just getting a taste of the real thing. I absolutely loved to meet
the second year students. They are the light at the end of the tunnel. It means
they survived first year and are not missing any limbs nor have gone crazy.
They are actually very excited about starting second year and going on
placements soon. We were all assigned a second year buddy during the summer and
they together put an amazing welcome week for us including a BBQ on Friday
night. They even prepared a little gift bag for us, which I thought was amazing!
I got a bag that says “MIDWIVES help people out!”, a nurse’s watch, a key chain and a bunch of
post-exam candy.
Note on the picture that my post Life
Sciences exam candy has already been partially consumed. Much appreciated after
our first 3 -hour Life Science class. It's so much material covered in classes
and not enough time to go over it all and organize my notes
during the weekend. Each week is getting more challenging and procrastination
is not an option. I’m not overwhelmed yet, just
tired. Extremely tired! I think my body needs to get used to waking
up early, sitting on uncomfortable chairs all day and then studying till
bed-time. I already got sick on my second week of school. I don't know if I'm
so tired because I got sick, or if I got sick because I'm so tired. So, with
all that in mind I have a feeling that posts here aren’t going to come as
often as I had planned (sorry!), but I will make an effort of writing at least
once a month. If you don’t hear from me for a while, you know it’s because I’m
swamped in school work. In spite of all the tiredness, I'm lovin' it!
