Done, done, done! First year of MEP done! I
know I haven’t written in a while and I have no excuses. This semester was so
much easier than the first one. I had so much more free time and less stress. I
was always on top of my work, I got good grades, I had time for my children and
I felt like I had a life. I cheated a little bit by choosing not not take an
elective this last semester but in the spring instead. This choice will cost me
an extra $600 but it meant I had one less course last semester. This translated
to about 3 hours worth of class, 2 hours worth of driving/parking/walking to
class and another 3 hours of homework/assignment/studying less a week. In
total that gave me about 8 extra hours a week to either study more Anatomy
& Physiology or spend with my family. Totally worth it! Also during the
second semester I got used to being a student and I discovered my learning
style and what works for me. My experience of starting university has been
similar to emigrating to a new country. You are excited but terrified at the
same time, you don’t know where anything is, you don’t know anybody and you
don’t speak the language. Now it feels like I have lived in this country for a
while and it’s starting to feel like home. I have learned the language of A
& P, I know people, the professors… I know where to go when I have a break,
where to eat… Now that things are starting to feel really familiar I realized
that I only have on more semester in this university, and then we will all be
on our placements all over the place. Time has gone by so quickly.
